Kelvingrove Park Bandstand:
Built in the 1920s by the City's parks department the bandstand is sited on the west bank of the River Kelvin in Kelvingrove Park. A brick building with a rendered white wall finish and 'special' bricks arounfd the window openings. The timber roof is covered with traditional slates, likely to be Ballachulish as seen on a great many buildings in Glasgow of this era. Centrally sited on the roof is a small square turret with domed top, and to the front of the roof large trumpet style speakers fanned out facing to the crowdspace. The building is sited at the focus of a large oval amphitheatre seating area sweeping upwards in a westerly direction to the entrance gates on Kelvinway. The bandstand fell into disrepair in the 1990s and the stage area was fenced off in 2001 following vandalism to the building. Category B listed.

Refurbishment 2013-14 (photos at base of this page):
Following a long-running campaign to restore the bandstand work finally began in Autumn 2013. Overseen by Glasgow Building Preservation Trust the work to bring the bandstand and amphitheatre back into use is due to be completed by March 2014
