Temple Police Station:
This former police station dates from 1905 and has lain empty since the Police vacated the site in the 1990s. The building rear area is securely fenced off preventing access to the rear and this and the building's prominent siting on a main road has help ensure it has avoided the unwanted attention of the vandals that have set about the former Temple Sawmills building just to the north.
The former Police Station is built of red sandstone with a slate roof andcomprises of a two storey main building to the north which steps down to a pair of single storey structures to the south. The north side of the site is bounded by a further single storey structure and further small outbuildings are located to the west of the site on the boundary with the tenement that looms above the Police station to the east. A separate red brick garage/stables block is sited to the south of the site. The buildings are not listed.
In 2007 plans were proposed for demolition of all the buildings and a new development to be built comprising of four storeys with ground floor retail space. These proposals were refused planning permission due to the high density of flats, traffic issues and the affects on the tenement behind. Since then the site has lain dormant with no sign of sale or redevelopment.
